Packaging Instructions for Sask Terra Exhibitions
Please Read Carefully

These instructions apply to submissions for all Sask Terra shows.
Improperly packed entries will not be accepted for jurying.

1. Each submission is to be packed in a separate container.
2. Completed entry form is to be attached to the outside of the container.
3. Name, address and telephone number of the entrant should be prominently displayed on the outside of the container.
4. Detailed packing and unpacking instructions should be firmly attached to the lid of the container. A simple sketch accompanying the instructions would be useful. Include any specific display instructions.
5. Indicate with arrows on the container which way is up.
 6. Avoid the use of cardboard boxes! Instead, we suggest the use of the following:
A wooden crate constructed especially for the object. Screw the lid on using Philips or Robertson screws.
A plastic five gallon pail. Use duct tape to fasten the lid onto the pail.
A hard plastic tote, with snap on lid, available at hardware and department stores.
Use duct tape to secure the lid in place.
A sono tube with plywood top and bottom fitted and secured into it. Use Philips or Robertson screws for the lid. Sono tubes are available in various diameters at building supply stores or from construction companies such as Beaver and Revelstoke, or
Wallace Construction.

Line the container with soft foam or 1" styrofoam including the base.
Scrap foam is available from upholsterers.

Wrap any protrusions, handles, knobs, decorative whatevers, in bubble pack. Wrap the object in soft plastic, such as dry cleaners’ plastic. This will help to protect the surface from abrasion and soiling.
Settle the object into the container, ensuring it is well cushioned from below. Surround the object with soft foam, bubble pack, styrofoam peanuts (not loose….. fill  several small plastic bags and place around the piece) or crushed newsprint (no shredded paper).
Be sure the object cannot shift in its container.
With sets, wrap each piece separately in appropriate material. Ensure that the pieces are well protected from crushing or banging each other in the container.
Place cushioning material on top of the object before securing the lid in place.
The lid should not compress the piece.
